जानकारी के मुताबिक शुक्रवार दोपहर करीब 2 बजे लखनऊ के खुर्शीद बाग स्थित हिंदू समाज पार्टी के कार्यालय में अज्ञात बदमाश आए थे. कमलेश तिवारी के साथ उन्होंने चाय पी. उनके पास चाकू और तमंचे भी थे जिनको उन्होंने मिठाई के डिब्बे में छिपाकर रखा था. मौका देखकर बदमाशों ने पार्टी अध्यक्ष तिवारी की गला रेत दिया और बुरी तरह से जख्मी कर दिया. बताया जा रहा है कि तिवारी के गले और मुंह पर करीब 15 बार चाकू से वार किया गया
घटना को अंजाम देकर बदमाश मौके से फरार हो गए. पार्टी कार्यालय में मौजूद अन्य लोगों कमलेश तिवारी को जख्मी हालत में अस्पताल पहुंचाया. जहां ट्रॉमा सेंटर में डॉक्टरों ने कमलेश तिवारी को मृत घोषित कर दिया.
